Custom TV and entertainment units in Melbourne.

We design, make and install custom TV and entertainment units in Melbourne, built to your wall, your screen and everything you want out of sight. Low-line units, floating units and full living-room walls are all made in our Thomastown workshop and fitted by our own installers. We quote each unit to your design, and your first one-hour consultation is free, at your home or in our Richmond or Thomastown showroom.

Start with the room

Which TV unit suits your room?

The right unit comes from how you use the wall. Here are the four arrangements we plan most often for a custom entertainment unit, and what to settle first for each.

TypeSuitsSettle early
Low-line unitA clean wall with the screen mounted above and storage at floor level. The length, drawers or doors, and where the devices live.
Floating unitRooms where you want the floor to run through under the joinery. How it fixes to the wall, and what is inside that wall.
Full living-room wallHomes with books, art and objects to show alongside the screen.Open shelving against closed storage, and the lighting.
Around a fireplaceLiving rooms where the screen and fireplace share one wall. The fireplace specifications and the height of the screen.

Real joinery

Entertainment units we have made.

Three Melbourne homes, three different answers to the same wall.

Walnut-look low-line unit and fireplace under a wall-mounted TV at Meraki House

Meraki House

A long low-line unit in Polytec Florentine Walnut Woodmatt runs along the wall and meets the fireplace, with the screen mounted above. The same walnut look carries through the kitchen.

Long dark entertainment unit on a recessed base under a wall-mounted TV at Collins House in Thornbury

Collins House, Thornbury

A long dark unit sits on a recessed base under the screen, so it reads as floating above the herringbone floor. The home's joinery pairs Laminex Pure Black with integrated finger pulls.

Natural oak-look drawers with lighting beneath, a fireplace on the bench and lit shelving beside a wall-mounted TV at Henry House

Henry House

Polytec Natural Oak Ravine drawers sit under a pale bench that carries the fireplace, with lighting beneath the unit. Full-height shelving and wine storage finish the wall beside the screen.

Before you pick a finish

What to plan for a custom entertainment unit.

A TV unit looks simple and hides a lot. Bring answers to these to your consultation and the design moves quickly.

  • The screen. Tell us the size you have now and the size you may buy next, so the proportions still work when you upgrade.
  • The devices. List your consoles, streaming boxes, amplifiers and speakers. Closed cabinets need airflow, and remotes need a way through the fronts.
  • Cables and power. Note where your power and data points sit today. We co-ordinate services and technology with the joinery before we make it, so the cables disappear.
  • The storage. Games, records and photo albums all suit different drawers, and wide drawers often beat doors at floor level.
  • The wall. Windows, doors, the fireplace and the view from the sofa decide how long the unit runs and where the screen sits.

Open-plan homes

Matching your TV unit to your kitchen.

In an open-plan home your entertainment unit and custom kitchen cabinets sit in the same view, so we often carry one finish and one detail across both. Polytec Woodmatt gives a walnut or oak look, as at Meraki House and Henry House. American oak veneer, which we used at Il Nido House, has a real timber face, and our guide to timber kitchens in Melbourne explains the choice.

You can do one wall now and add rooms later. Our custom joinery in Melbourne covers studies, shelving, pantries and laundries, and we plan the first stage so the rooms that follow are easier to resolve.

  5. Installation. Our in-house installers deliver and fit it, then we check the work with you.

Common questions

Custom TV units: your questions.

How much does a custom entertainment unit cost in Melbourne?

We quote each unit to your design. The length, the materials, the internal fittings and the site all shape the price. In your free consultation we talk through your plans and an initial cost range, then quote the design you settle on.

Can you make a floating TV unit?

Yes. We look at the wall and its services first, then design the unit and how it fixes together, so it sits cleanly and carries what you plan to store in it.

Can you build a TV unit around a fireplace?

Yes. We did this at Meraki House and Henry House. Bring the specifications for your fireplace and we will set the joinery out around them.

Do you make just one unit, or only whole homes?

Either. Many of our projects begin with one room, and a single living-room wall gets the same design, workshop and installation team as a full home.

Do I need plans before I talk to you?

No. Photos of the wall, rough measurements and a few images you like are enough to start.

Do you work outside Melbourne?

We design and install custom joinery for homes across Melbourne and Victoria. Book a home or site consultation and tell us where the project is.
